Margaret I. Cuomo, MD, joins the HeritX Board of Trustees
FLORHAM PARK, NJ (February 28, 2018) – HeritX announces that nationally recognized cancer prevention expert and advocate Margaret I. Cuomo, MD, has joined its Board of Trustees.
HeritX CEO Thomas Bock, MD, says: “We welcome Dr. Cuomo to our Board and are excited about her joining our global HeritX Initiative to prevent cancer, starting with inherited BRCA cancer. Her broad understanding of the importance of cancer prevention and of innovative solutions forward will tremendously help us in shifting the cancer paradigm from treating cancer after its occurs to its prevention.”
Dr. Margaret Cuomo is a board-certified radiologist and recognized expert in cancer diagnostics and prevention. Through her ground-breaking book, “A World Without Cancer: The Making of a New World and the Real Promise of Prevention”, her thought-provoking PBS documentary on this subject, and many other activities on the national stage, Dr. Cuomo has become one of the driving forces and advocates for the prevention of cancer.
Dr. Cuomo is a frequent media contributor, writer and blogger on health issues, especially those related to disease prevention. In 2011, she received the “Commendatore dell’Ordine della Stella della Solidarietà Italiana,” the “Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity,” by Giorgio Napolitano, president of Italy. Furthermore, Dr. Cuomo was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Dowling College in 2013. In November 2017, she was the keynote speaker at HeritX’s “Inspiration to Transformation” event at the Harvard Club in New York City.
